Privacy Policy

Our Philosophy
Zumfi builds software that respects you. We believe your data belongs to you — not to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics platforms. This policy explains how each of our products handles your information.
1. Self-Hosted Products (Zumfi Finance, Mnemosyne)
When you self-host our products on your own hardware, we have zero access to your data. Your financial records, notes, documents, and AI interactions stay entirely on your machine. No telemetry, no analytics, no phone-home connections.
You are the sole data controller. We have no ability to view, process, or recover your data.
2. Hosted Products (CharmWriter, Zumfi Habbit)
Data We Collect
- Account information — email address and display name when you create an account
- Content you create — stories, chapters, habit entries, and related data needed to provide the service
- Usage data — minimal, anonymous usage statistics (page views, feature usage) to improve the product
Data We Never Collect
- We do not use third-party tracking scripts or advertising pixels
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
- We do not use your content to train AI models
- We do not build advertising profiles
Data Storage
Hosted product data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption.
3. This Website (zumfi.net)
The Zumfi portfolio website does not use cookies, analytics tools, or tracking scripts. We do not collect any personal data from visitors browsing this site.
4. Third-Party Services
- AI providers — If you choose to use cloud AI models (Claude, OpenAI) in our self-hosted products, your prompts are sent to those providers under their respective privacy policies. Local AI via Ollama keeps everything on your hardware.
- Stripe — Donation payments through Stripe are processed under Stripe's privacy policy. We do not store credit card information.
- GitHub — Our open-source repositories are hosted on GitHub under GitHub's privacy statement.
5. Your Rights
For hosted products, you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Export — Download your data in standard formats at any time
- Delete — Request complete deletion of your account and associated data
- Correct — Update or correct your personal information
To exercise these rights, contact us at zumfi.net@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Backups containing your data are purged within 90 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on our blog. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
